To improve working conditions and living standards in developing countries, there is Fairtrade, which describes fair trade for products from developing countries.

Important components include:

- A fixed minimum price
- A premium payment that can be used for social projects such as a school or a hospital
- A ban on child labor and forced labor
- A ban on discrimination
- Certain environmental standards that prohibit genetically modified seeds and restrict the use of pesticides
