The Roastery

Welcome to our newly designed homepage and to micafé Crespo, Lennepe's first private roastery.

We are my husband Alfonso Crespo and I, Nicole Crespo. We are originally trained bankers (Sparkassenbetriebswirt and Sparkassenfachwirtin), but our passion for coffee and everything that goes with it encouraged us in 2015 to take the step into self-employment. Because success comes from passion. Our motto:

We have gradually expanded our knowledge of coffee and coffee roasting. My husband completed a barista training several years ago and has been continuously perfecting it.

For us, the quality of the green beans is very important, as is the gentle process of roasting these valuable beans.

This is done using the drum roasting method. In this process, the coffee beans are slowly roasted at a moderate temperature (approx. 215°C) using a gentle combined conduction (contact) and convection (air) method.

This allows the aromas of the coffee bean to fully develop. There are up to 1000 different aromas, of which about 800 have already been researched.

The gentle roasting is noticeable not only in the taste in your cup, but also in your well-being. This gentle process also breaks down indigestible acids.

After reaching the temperature, the beans are poured out of the drum and allowed to cool. Before the finished, still slightly warm and freshly roasted coffee beans are put into your bag, they remain in special containers to ripen further.

The professional equipment is located in our in-house roastery and also on our coffee bike. With this, we are not only present at many regional festivals, but also at weddings, birthdays, company events or other occasions.

Furthermore, since the end of 2018, we have been pleased to have actively supported Lebenshilfe Remscheid e. V. in the implementation of the integrative "Café achtsam" project with our expertise and technical assistance.
